Charlotte receiver off the board

Appalachian State was very interested in the services of Charlotte (N.C.) Latin wide receiver Brentin Bersin, but 11 days ago, the big 6-foot-3, 170-pound recruit took his name off the board.
According to his high school head coach, Larry McNulty, Bersin took an official visit to Wofford during the first weekend of January and committed on the spot.

"He went down to Wofford and loved everything about it and decided to commit on the spot," McNulty said. "He said he didn't need to see any other schools because Wofford was the best fit for him."
The decision comes as a bit of a surprise, as the senior had been receiving interest from more than a handful of programs including the three-time national champs. In the end, the decision was based on his comfort level at the Spartanburg based school.
Bersin was a player that the entire Mountaineer staff considered to be a quality prospect. Despite their heavy interest, Appalachian State had not yet offered a scholarship.
The Mountaineers will now place their focus on others on their board.
