BGs keys to the game

Appalachian State returns home Saturday, looking for its first win at Kidd Brewer Stadium this season. The task ahead of the Mountaineers won't be an easy one, as Charleston Southern enters the game with an impressive 4-0 record to start the season.
Like most other programs that come into Boone, Charleston Southern will have its mind on upsetting the home team on one of the biggest stages they'll play on all season long.

In order to get a better look at what the Mountaineers must do to earn a home victory, we turned to former Appalachian linebacker Brandon Grier for his keys to the game.
BG'S THREE KEYS TO THE GAME
KEY NO. 1
Containing the Option
ASU's defense will have to contain the option this week. Our defensive line has to do a good job with getting a good push off the ball to free the linebackers up to run free and make tackles sideline to sideline. Tackling will be key to success this weekend. Charleston Southern runs an option out of the shotgun, so our defense will have to stop the run early this week.
KEY NO. 2
Offense Keeping the Defense Off the Field
The offense started fast last week against Elon, which took pressure off the quarterbacks and they were able to be more relaxed and able to make better plays. ASU's offense has to keep the defense off the field. Whenever you play an option team it is very important that you control the clock and keep your defense rested.
KEY NO. 3
Containing WR Kierre Brown
Turnover battle is key in this game, we have to win the turnover battle. Charleston Southern is a solid team that is undefeated and will be fired up to come play us this weekend.
