Lumberton (NC) Senior High School 2-star quarterback Braylan Grice has wreaked havoc against his competition since his freshman year.

The 6-1, 225-pound member of the class of 2019 has served as the Lumberton Pirates’ starter for three seasons, drawing attention from multiple schools, among them Appalachian State.

“App State was the first school to offer me,” Grice told ASI. “I really like Appalachian State. The school’s atmosphere and how the campus sits on a mountain is pretty cool.”

Coming from a small town, the transition from Robeson County, NC, to Boone shouldn’t be an issue for Grice. There is one pretty big difference, though.

“It would definitely be colder than what I’m used to,” he said.

Grice has amassed 4,515 career passing yards and 60 total touchdowns - 38 passing, 22 on the ground. As a junior, he recorded 1,854 passing yards and 17 touchdowns while rushing for an additional 901 yards and 13 scores.

Also owning an offer from Charlotte, Grice is hearing from more and more schools. But App State remains in a good spot with the quarterback.

“I attended UNC, Clemson, N.C. State and East Carolina’s summer camps,” he said. “I picked up interest and remained in contact with all of those programs after my performances there… But, I would definitely say App State is at the top of my list.

“I always said the first school to offer me would be at the top of my list when I’m ready to commit.”

While he hasn’t scheduled a commitment date, the Robeson County Player of the Year says he hopes to make it back to Boone very soon.

“I haven’t scheduled a visit yet, but I would love to visit App State any time.”
