Hanahan (SC) High School 3- star defensive end Cooper Dawson is a massive prospect with an interesting offer sheet.

The 6-5, 250 pounder garnered early interest from the Appalachian State coaching staff, and now that he has an offer from the Mountaineers, Dawson says ASU is in the fold.

“The coaching staff has a lot of great attributes,” he told ASI. “When I visited back in May, the staff had my dad and I laughing and enjoying ourselves the entire time. On top of that, they know how to win.”

Dawson also reports offers from Clemson, Navy, UCF and Wake Forest among others. While some of the other programs on his list offer a divergent array of campuses and communities, the two-way athlete appreciates everything Boone has to offer.

“Boone is a sweet football town,” Dawson said. “The campus is very cool and is built right into the mountains. Overall it is a great atmosphere.”

Dawson also lined up at tight end this past season for the Hawks. While he hasn’t he isn’t sure what position he will play in college, Dawson says that will be one of the key factors in deciding what program he’ll call home.

“App State offered me as an offensive lineman,” he explained. “I have also received offers as a tight end as well as a defensive end. It’s hard for me to say which program is in the lead because I haven’t decided what position I’m going to play at the next level yet.”

Dawson recently announced he would not be participating in this upcoming season due to an ACL injury suffered over the summer. However, he’s optimistic about his recovery going forward.

“Rehab has been coming along very well,” he said. “The doctors tell me that I am way ahead of schedule. I am ready to come back bigger, stronger and faster.”

Dawson, who also plays baseball, has no visits scheduled at this time.
