Ced's keys to the game

Appalachian State took the field in Chattanooga last weekend and handled its business, earning an impressive victory on the road and reestablishing its confidence heading into the last regular season nonconference game on the schedule.

Now, the Mountaineers must use the momentum built from last week's win to their advantage and carry it over into Saturday afternoon's battle with Coastal Carolina. The team seems to have regained its confidence and has removed any sign of complacency that might have existed going into the matchup with The Citadel.

Just as last week's game served as a must-win, the Mountaineers are approaching this contest with the exact same mentality.

That said, in order to get a better idea of what Appalachian State must do to notch the victory at Kidd Brewer Stadium, we turned to former Mountaineer running back Cedric Baker Boney to get his keys to the game.

CEDRIC'S THREE KEYS TO THE GAME

KEY NO. 1

Balanced attack on offense

I think we can move the chains running or throwing the ball. We have Steve Miller and Roderick Chisholm carrying the football and we have a number of great receivers also. This week App Nation gets to see the whole offense. Nobody is sitting out and everybody is healthy, so I expect a great outing on the offensive side of the ball. Having Sean Price as a deep threat is great because it opens the intermediate passing game with Andrew Peacock and also the running game with Steve Miller; it will soften up the Coastal Carolina defense. In two games Sean Price has 18 catches for 233 yards and 3 touchdowns. We have to get him the ball as much as possible.

KEY NO. 2

Stopping Aramis Hillary

He is the younger brother of former ASU receiver Coco Hillary, and is a dual threat quarterback ranked 9th in the nation in total yards with 302.5 a game. The ASU defense has to contain him, especially running; we may have receivers covered but when plays break down and he gets out of the pocket we have to keep his big play ability to a minimum.

KEY NO. 3

Building off last week

Everybody knew how important the Chattanooga game was last week. We had a very good outing and I think that we have to continue the positive energy and momentum throughout the season. Having an early season loss might have been the best thing for us. I think we will come out ready to play from here on out and the Mountaineers know we can't have too many early season losses and accomplish what we want to accomplish which is conference championship.
