Woody hoping defense can make spring strides

Appalachian State's defense faced some challenging times last season. The adjustment to defensive coordinator Nate Woody's system was not as smooth as the coaches hoped it would be. As the season moved along, the Mountaineers did start to find some bit of comfort in the approach.

Considering the Mountaineers had to use so many young faces, the coaches are jumping into spring practice with extremely high expectations of their players.
