Spring Review: Running Backs

When Appalachian State took the practice field for the first time this spring it was clear the coaches were placing a heavy emphasis on improving the team's ability to run the football.

After reviewing the Mountaineers' failure to produce on the ground in 2011, offensive coordinator Scott Satterfield and head coach Jerry Moore knew the team had to run the football much better.

The task of improving in this regard did not fall on the shoulders of just the offensive line unit, which did struggle to open running lanes, but also on the backs that struggled to take advantage of the opportunities they were presented.
