Spring Review: Wide Receivers
For the first time since 2008, Appalachian State entered spring practice without standout wide receiver Brian Quick on the roster. Consequently, the Mountaineer coaching staff began the 15 sessions on a search to fill the void left behind, both from an on-field performance and leadership standpoint.
While that search is still ongoing, Scott Satterfield and new wide receivers coach Justin Stepp was more than pleased with how returning starters Andrew Peacock and Tony Washington performed.
Though class scheduling conflicts interred with Peacock's ability to participate in many full practice sessions, he did enough during his time on the field to give the coaches some peace of mind with what he is capable of accomplishing in Satterfield's offensive approach.
Washington also put his set of skills on display, and gave the coaches reason to believe they have someone with the ability to serve as a leader within the unit.
